The leaked Nexus launcher UI has been seeing a lot of discussion over the last couple of days. The new UI elements seem to offer a lot of bonuses for people and Australian developer Chris Lacy agrees, releasing a beta version of Action Launcher 3 that incorporates a lot of the assets from the new launcher.
To start with the new app drawer mechanism is live, you can swipe up anywhere from the dock to have the all apps page now comes up. This all apps page can also be themed with Action Launchers Quick Theme feature that will match the dock colour to your wallpaper. The Google Search pill and date/time widgets are also live in the Action Launcher 3 and you can insert them anywhere onto your home page.
Chris has only had a few days to get the Beta working, but it’s looking good so far and he’s promised updates in the days to come.
The complete changelog for Action Launcher 3.9-beta 1 includes:
• Alpha integration of Nougat’s rumored revamped All Apps. Swipe up on the dock to reveal All Apps, or continue to use your existing All Apps shortcut. Must be enabled via Settings -> App drawers -> Nougat style (Alpha).
• Add caret (^) page indicator (“Nougat style (Alpha)” option must be enabled).
• Add tinted dock plate (“Nougat style (Alpha)” option must be enabled).
• Add combined Google “pill” and date widget.
• Add Google “pill” as standalone widget.
• Add date widget.
