If you’re still searching around for the perfect app to track all your public transport options in Sydney, then you have another choice with Trip Checker launching this month.
The app was launched in Sydney earlier this month offering live bus, train, and ferry information for journeys from Newcastle to Wollongong. The app offers personalised service with single tap ‘get me home’ planning, that even includes a wake me up feature to wake you at your stop.
Carl Partridge, CEO of UrbanThings spoke about the Sydney launch and their future plans
I’m delighted at this exciting next step for our transport apps. Our data is some of the most precise on the planet and we make highly-rated apps that users love. Over the coming months we’ll be expanding beyond Sydney and integrating more transportation modes. We will continue to listen carefully to what our users want from TripChecker, and have set up a beta testers group to help with this. For us, this is just the beginning of the trip.
The app looks pretty good with a heap of features included. Full list of features for Trip Checker:
• Live, updated vehicle departures, direct from official data.
• Real-time GPS map of nearest stops.
• Plan your journey anywhere in the world by bus, tube, rail and more.
• One-tap ‘get me home’ journey planning.
• Service disruptions including diversions, closures and cancellations.
• Stop Alerts – get woken up when you’ve arrived at your stop!
• A handy widget lets you view live departure times on your home screen.
• Full 3D route maps for all routes – see exactly where you’re heading.
• Live Cycle Hire dock locations and availability in key cities.
• Favourite the places and bus stops you use regularly.
The public transport planning apps available now are getting insane, with Google obviously a well known quantity with their Google Transit offering. In recent months we’ve also seen City Mapper, Moovit and local app Embark launching in Australia. It comes down to which one catches your eye.

I just had a go with it. I think it’s good if you’re in a new city. But just to find out what time my next bus goes is quite difficult. You can’t search by bus route number, for example. I use TripView which is great for that.
Hi Phil, thanks for your comment and the feedback, it is appreciated! :-).
Just wanted to mention a couple of things you could try if you use the app in the future: If you locate the stop board where you want to catch your bus you can see how far away it is in minutes. And we also have a search option for bus routes in the overflow menu – please tap this to access the Route Maps search button.
Thank you for trying out TripChecker!
