Electronics manufacturer AOPEN has today announced two new mini Chrome devices aimed at small business, introducing the Chromebase Mini and the Chromebox Mini.
AOPEN Chrome devices have been used for enterprise level deployments previously but this is a focus on the smaller end of the market. Stephen Borg, Global Chief Digital Officer AOPEN Group sees the devices as a ‘major leap forward in design – allowing a ubiquitous approach to multiple use cases, rapid application development, and ease of use for the signage, kiosk, POS, and other enterprise markets’.
The Chromebase Mini is a kiosk option for small businesses, though AOPEN says there are many uses for the device which is an all-in-one solution with a 10.1″ touch-screen, including using it for digital signage, POS, corporate communication and AV room control, or anything you can think of really. The unit is water resistant with an IP54 dust and water protection rating and tamperproof as well making this a decent solution even for your kitchen to review online recipes.

Also announced was the Chromebox Mini, a more durable looking device which AOPEN expect will act as SME or enterprise desktop replacement devices, they’re also looking to see them used for hosting IOT applications, or digital signage and as kiosk devices. The AOPEN Chromebox Mini comes with almost identical specs to the Chromebase Mini with the same Rockchip processor powering the device, though you lose the screen and webcam.

AOPEN will be selling both devices in Australia through Goodson imports and Transition Systems Asia as well as through their own webstore which will be opening in the middle of next month. The Chromebox Mini starts at $299 with a 1 year warranty while the Chromebase Mini starts at $570 with a 1 year warranty. An additional 2 years can be added to the warranty for $50 per device.
