Baselworld watch expo hasn’t even started and we are seeing several watchmakers release plans for upcoming Android Wear 2.0 watches. Luxury Swiss brand, Gc, has joined the fray in announcing their Android Wear 2.0 offerings.
The Gc Connect watches will be based on their Gc Structura analogue watches with models for both males and females. The watches will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor but little else regarding the specs is known at this stage.
What is known is that the watches will have a 318L stainless steel case with brushed and polished steel and rose gold or bronze. The mens watch will also have a black ceramic ring around the circular display.
The men’s design will be available with rose gold, polished steel, black silicone strap, crocodile leather patterned strap and bronze case, or a steel version with a grey embossed silicone strap. The ladies watch will also be available with rose gold, steel, and white silicone strap or rose gold and a polished bracelet.
Just as the other luxury watchmakers as doing, Gc will provide custom Gc watch faces with many combinations available.
At this stage there is no price or release date available. It seems that this is just the start of things and with Baselworld beginning shortly we expect many more announcements in the coming days. Hopefully the watchmakers can lift the flagging Android Wear 2.0 line and we will see some decent watches that people will actually buy.
