We’ve gotten excited about Google getting into game and content production previously, but it looks like it’s for real this time with Google announcing this morning that they’ve acquired Owlchemy Labs, the makers of popular VR titles Job Simulator and Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality.
The games from Owlchemy Labs aren’t available for Android, but they’re popular VR titles with Job Simulator a popular launch title for the Facebook owned Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive platforms, while Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, based on the popular Adult Swim TV show, is gaining popularity since its release last month.
Google has previously released titles for Vive with their awesome Tilt Brush application and Google Earth on both Oculus and Vive. But with their nascent Daydream VR platform requiring content to really pick up steam, Oculus and Vive aren’t the only platforms that Google will be targeting with this acquisition, Google said

Hopefully we’ll see the fruits of this acquisition soon, as well as more handsets that are compatible with the Daydream platform so it can grow quickly.
