Huawei’s P10 and P10 Plus are now on sale, and here’s every plan compared

The Hua-wait is over: Huawei’s latest flagship smartphone, the P10, is now on sale. It will set you back $899 outright, or you can grab it on a contract from Optus, Virgin, or Vodafone.

Regardless of whether you’re after the P10 outright or on a plan, it represents good value for the money: the dual rear-facing cameras are great, the battery will easily get you through a day with a healthy buffer, and it’s pretty zippy. The two main compromises the P10 makes are a lack of water-resistance and oleophobic (grease-resistant) coating. Before we get into all of your options for getting a P10 on a contract, there’s a few standout P10 deals worth considering.

Virgin is a winner when it comes to bang-for-buck. If you don’t need heaps of data, its 4GB $55 per month plan and 6GB $72 per month plan outclass the competition by some measure. If you’re a Velocity Frequent Flyer, you can get 10% off, bringing the plans down to $50 a month and $64.80, respectively. This makes them even better value, and Velocity membership is free, so there’s little reason to not take advantage of this deal.

If you need more data, Vodafone’s $90 per month plan gets you 20GB. 9GB of this total is part of a promo that ends on June 6, but taking up this deal will also get you a month of free access. Getting a similar amount on Optus or Virgin will cost you $10 per month more.

And if you need even more data, the P10 is also available on Optus’ $160 plan with 100GB of data. However, if you want to get your money’s worth from this plan, it might be worth considering a pricier phone than the P10, given that you can get almost any handset on it with no additional repayment fees. Optus’ $160 plan also includes free talk and text while roaming, as well as 1.5GB of data to use each month overseas.

Optus is also the only place you can get the P10 in blue, which is almost enough of a reason to say “Yes”.
