Ahead of the August 19th launch of the Zenfone 4, the entire series of phones has leaked…thanks to Asus themselves, at least their French online store.
As befits the Zenfone 4 series, there are four phones coming according to the leak, the Zenfone 4, Zenfone 4 Selfie, Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro and the previously launched in Russia, Zenfone 4 Max.
Zenfone 4
The Zenfone 4 is the base model and comes with a 5.5″ FullHD resolution AMOLED display, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage (expandable by microSD card). The phone includes a front mounted fingerprint sensor, NFC, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2. The phone has a dual camera setup on the rear with 12MP & 8MP, as well as an 8MP sensor on the front. The phone will cost €499.99 (around $750AUD).
Zenfone 4 Selfie & Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro
The Zenfone 4 Selfie and Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro both include a 5.5″ display, though the Selfie is a HD (1280×720) resolution IPS LCD and the Selfie Pro uses FullHD (1920×1080) resolution AMOLED panel. The Selfie uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430, while the Selfie Pro gets a bump to a Snapdragon 625 processor. Both models come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage (expandable by microSD card).
The Selfie and Selfie Pro both appear to have front-facing flash and dual front facing camera including a wide-angle 120° field of view. The Selfie gets 20MP + 8MP sensors, while the Selfie Pro gets 24MP & 5MP sensors. While focus (hah) appears to be on the ‘Selfie’ aspect, the rear camera on the Selfie and Selfie Pro is still a respectable 16MP sensor.
Pricing wise, the Selfie will be sold for €299 ($352AUD) while the Selfie Pro will set you back €399 ($469AUD).
Zenfone 4 Max
Finally, the Zenfone 4 Max is coming to the west, though it’s slightly different in spec to what we’ve seen previously. The Zenfone 4 Max coming to Europe will be a 5.2″ HD (1280×720) resolution display, the phone is still powered by a Snapdragon 425, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage (again expandable by microSD cards). The phone will include a still large 4,100mAh battery, but it’s disappointing when the Russian version has a 5,000mAh battery.
The Zenfone 4 Max puts its dual camera setup on the rear with a 13MP & 5MP sensor on the rear which includes a wide-angle function, while the front camera gets a decent 8MP sensor.
The Zenfone 4 Max will sell for €229.99 (around $270AUD).
The event to announce the Zenfone 4 series will take place on August 19th in Taiwan. Traditionally Asus has not released any phones here in Australia and we’re not expecting this to change, but we’ll be in contact with Asus Australia as soon as the launch happens.
