Update 7 Dec: From the Rockstar Games Blog it appears the game is still not available to download and as of this morning I am stil seeing the XAPK File Validation Failed when trying to install the game I purchased late last night. -Daniel

Update 6 Dec: It seems as though the game has been pulled from the Play Store due to external install issues, hopefully it will return soon.

Rockstar Games has made a statement on the availability of GTA Vice City :

We’re aware that some users have attempted to download Vice City: 10th Anniversary Edition from the Google Play Store and have experienced validation errors.

Just to be clear: the game is not available for Android devices just yet, and if you’re seeing it listed on the Store then this is an error, and you shouldn’t attempt to download it. We’ll keep you up to date and let you know as soon as the game is live and available to purchase.

When Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was released back in 2002, you could only buy the game for PS2 or Xbox. Well now we have some good news for Android gamers who enjoy the Grand Theft Auto series, as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is now available for purchase on the Play Store. Unfortunately GTA: Vice City isn’t compatible with all Android devices at this time, although Rockstar Games have included a list of the devices that are currently supported.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is now available on:
Android Phones: Motorola Atrix, Motorola ATRIX 2, Motorola ATRIX HD, Motorola Photon, Motorola Droid Bionic, HTC Rezound, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Samsung Galaxy R, Sony Xperia Play, Sony Xperia S, P, T & TL, Sony Walkman Z Series Media Player, Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy S3, Google Nexus 4

Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime, LG Optimus Pad, Medion Lifetab, Motorola Xoom, Motorola Xoom 2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Sony Xperia Tablet S, Sony Tablet P, Toshiba Thrive, Google Nexus 7, Google Nexus 10, Fujitsu Stylistic 10.1, Toshiba Excite

I don’t think its on the Australian play store yet .. it says item not found. :/

    Adam Ricket

It was on the play store until they pulled it due to the install issues that Dan mentions in the update

Its good they have onley selected devices otherwise people with 20 dollar phones give it a bad rating because it doesn’t work

    Sean Royce

Google play stores rating system needs to be fixed, so many people rate things badly for the wrong reasons, it frustrates the fuck out of me when people rate it one star because it doesn’t work on their shitty budget Android. Makes me feel bad for the developers.

Who is “appaware” and where is the link to the Play Store, as promised?

    Martin Breuer

I don’t see a promise and if you are not able to understand the widget, you should go play with Windows 8…

    Ian Tester

I just get a “Not Found” error when I click on the “Install” link. And GTA:VC doesn’t show up on the play store when I do a search. Is it not released in Australia yet?
Oh, and fuck you for the Windows 8 comment.

    Peter Graham

    Same here link doesn’t work

    Adam Ricket

Hey Ian, rockstar games pulled the game from the play store not long after I posted this article that is why you are getting the not found error.

    Sean Royce

Hope it’s not as buggy as the last release they did for GTA 3
