Annoying auto-play videos or audio on sites are about to get a bit easier to deal with, with Google now working on the option to mute audio for a whole tab.
In a post on Google+, Chrome advocate François Beaufort has reported that a new setting being trialed in Chrome Canary, gives you the option to mute/unmute a website directly from the Page Info bubble. The option can be enabled by turning on the switch –enable-features=SoundContentSetting switch and will look like this:
Updates through Chrome cycle through at around 6 weeks per version. Once the feature has been through Canary > Dev > Beta channels, we should see it on stable before the end of the year – provided no major issues are found.
