If you don’t like Star Wars then you’re in for a bad time today with Force Friday in full swing. As well as in-store Augmented Reality expriences (AR) you can also get a taste of Star Wars outside if you’re in the right place.
The Star Wars app will now show an AR experience at landmarks around the globe, with 20 locations selected to show something neat. To experience it you will need to be within a mile (1.6km for us in Australia) of the location and obviously have your Star Wars app installed.
For us here in Australia it’s really only open to Sydney-siders, but other locations around the world include:
- Central Park, USA
- CN Tower, Canada
- Coca-Cola London Eye, UK
- Copacabana Beach, Brazil
- Eiffel Tower, France
- Gam Ia Stan, Sweden
- Golden Gate Bridge, USA
- Gran Via, Spain
- Grand Canyon, USA
- Ha’Penney Bridge, Ireland
- Hollywood Sign, USA
- Lumpini Park, Thailand
- Memorial de America Latina, Brazil
- Merlion Park, Singapore
- Niagra Falls, Canada
- Piazza del Duomo, Italy
- Schloss Charlottenburg, Germany
- Sydney Harbour Bridge, Australia
- Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong
- Yoyogi Park, Japan
If you’re nowhere near Sydney you’ll be pleased to see we sent our intrepid editor Jason out to Circular Quay this morning to check it out:
If you are near Sydney Harbour then it’s worth checking out in-person, or you can check out the in-store AR experiences at Big W, Harvey Norman, Myer, Toys“R”Us, Zing or Target (Online) stores. Grab the Star Wars app and head out now.
