For those that haven’t used Tapatalk before, it is a nice little application that allows you to easily browse through your favourite forums (including our own Ausdroid forums) as well as post comments. I find it to be a much easier way of browsing through multiple forums than using a mobile browser.
I have been a Tapatalk user for a while now and have Tapatalk installed on my phone and Tapatalk HD installed on my tablet. Now Tapatalk have released their new version to the Play Store in beta form.
The new version has some nice improvements over the old version but the biggest change is the user interface. The beta now has a holo theme and includes an Action Bar and the new ‘Cards UI’ as seen in several new applications.
One thing that you need to be aware of is the new version has been built for Android 4.0+ so if you are running an older version of Android you will not be able to upgrade to the new version.
Quoord Systems Limited mention that the beta will be merged with Tapatalk HD, so if you have already purchased that app you should get the new version as a free upgrade. Having tried it on both my phone and tablet I can see that there are a few things that still need to be addressed, one being the tablet layout, but I’m sure that will come at a later stage.
If you are a user of Tapatalk or would like to give it a try, head on over to the Play Store and grab a copy.

Have they got it syncing subscriptions between different devices, yet!?
When you log in using a tapatalk id, it will sync all of your subscriptions but you will need to enter your password on the new device for security reasons.
Well, it didn’t even prompt me to enter forum passwords, so I was left needing to manually add every forum I’m subscribed to on each device.
I was disappointed when I installed it and logged in using my Tapatalk ID as nothing was showing up as synced. I went back into the app a few hours later and all of the forums that I use on the HD version of the app on my Nexus 7 had synced across. Looks like it takes a while to import.
nothing in this article says what tapatalk is…
Exactly! Come on, authors, it’s a small ask.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Yes, that was a pretty big over-site and has been updated.
