HTC Desire 200
Captured in the wild only today, HTC has just made the Desire 200 official, releasing it on their website.

It’s a very low end device but still includes Beats Audio, the Android version is hidden and is only listed as Android with HTC Sense. No LTE is on-board, only 2G/3G radios are included however with a 1230mAh battery you probably wouldn’t want to use 4G much anyway.

HTC Desire 200

  • Qualcomm® Snapdragonâ„¢ S1, 1GHz
  • 512MB DDR1 RAM

  • Radios
    • 2G/ 2.5G – GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
    • 3G/ 3.5G – UMTS/ HSPA: 900/2100 MHz with HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps
  • 5MP Rear Camera

No front facing camera has been included with the Desire 200, but with the size of the phone HTC may have been pushing to include things such as this or it may be a matter of them aiming for a set price point.

With the Desire 200 and 600 now official the hope that the Desire brand will return to the premium days of the original Desire or even the Desire HD are apparently over. Pricing and availability have not been made available at this time but we’ll update as soon as we hear anything back.

I like your article title 🙂

Looks like a Desire C type HTC-no LED flash unlike the Desire X or Desire 600.

Would be fine for a new addition to the non -4G Telstra pre-paid lineup.

HTC needs to have products in all segments of the market to turn a profit, but calling an entry level phone “Desire” is certainly cheapening the goodwill that previous Desire owners had.

HTC should call it something else, and leave the Desire brand for a flagship device..

I know there’s a market for “just a phone” phones, but even my old nokia pre-paid pre-smartphone had a front-facing camera,…

The Desire name hasn’t been good since the original Desire and DHD

Not again. After releasing this years best phone in the One, they release crap like this. It is a blight on the Desire name.
