If you purchased your Nexus One from Google directly you may, or may not, have received a OTA update for your device. The update, named FRG83D, includes a few small patches to core applications that will no doubt pave the way for a quick and easy push of Gingerbread to the iconic Android device. It only weighs in at 1.3MB, so downloading it over data should be okay unless your provider charges you million to use unplanned data.
There’s no word on an update being pushed out to 1000 devices sold by Vodafone, as far as I know they didn’t push out the last update that became available for the device. So you may just have to sit back and wait for Gingerbread that is meant to be released ‘in the next few weeks’.

Just got pushed OTA 2.2.1 FRG83D to Nexus One bought from VF.au – yay
Ever since I ran this update on Saturday, the battery life of my Nexus has been terrible. What also occurs is if I close the phone down late at night to conserve the battery, when I start it in the morning, it is completely dead and needs recharging.
Has anyone heard of this issue. I own the phone outright, purchased here in Australia.
Any ideas?
Haven’t got OTA update. Mine is N1 bought directly from Google.
How can I have it OTA? I don’t want to install it manually.
Ryan, if you don’t want to manually update the only thing you can do is use the system menu Home Screen (menu button)|Settings|About Phone|System Updates and hope your phone is blessed to see the update (I think they progressively roll these out).

The good thing about nexus one is the carrier (vodafone) is irrelevant. Just download the patch from google. This is the FRG83 -> FRG83D update http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/passion/ecb21b752065.signed-passion-FRG83D-from-FRG83.ecb21b75.zip Copy the file to your internal card and name it update.zip (not update.zip.zip) Power off your phone. Pfft, vodafone don’t even sell accessories for the Nexus One so I won’t be holding my breath for a software update. Wish it was as easy as apples iPhone updates
