Fear not LG Optimus One owners who thought they might not receive Android 2.3 “Gingerbread”, you will be! LG recently confirmed that any LG Optimus One devices currently running Android 2.2 will be updated to Gingerbread when the source code has been released by Google and LG have worked their magic.
LG will upgrade all Optimus One smartphones currently using the Froyo OS to the next version of the Android OS, Gingerbread. Details of the upgrade schedule will be announced locally in due course. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and misunderstanding that was caused regarding this issue.
Good to see a manufacturer already confirming Gingerbread updates, your move Samsung, Motorola, HTC and all the rest.

I have been impressed by this phone. 2.2 is pretty much stock and the phone has a solid case.
should come fast too, as it pretty much runs stock.
Even though there’s nothing super duper amazing in Gingerbread that makes me be champing at the bit to get it, it’s great to get it (as Google say it runs faster), and it shows that LG is doing right by us using their fine Optimus One. Huzzah! If I can only get bloody Optus to fix their SH*THOUSE software that crashes whenever GPS is turned on or off, and continually runs in the background even though I can’t use it then I’d be even more happy.
