Just a few days ago we put out a PSA about Google’s Backup & Sync Client not supporting mounted network drives on PCs. It seems that either Google quickly addressed this issue based on our post, or more likely maybe they were days away from actually releasing a fix. Either way a new version of the Google Backup & Sync client, v3.39, has started rolling out and appears to fix the issue.

As of the time of writing I hadn’t received the update yet so I can’t confirm it is working, however Android Police are reporting that today’s update, which seems to be a fairly typical Google slow trollout, adds support for network drives which hopefully includes both NAS and RAID Server style systems. The update also brings a few other minor fixes but nothing as critical as fixing network syncing.

If you don’t want to wait for the update perhaps you can try installing the client from the latest installer, you can grab it here. If you found you were having network drive issues check your version of the client, you may now be backing up! Let us know in the comments if this is working for you.
