New devices rarely stay hidden these days and the Huawei TalkBand B5 was no exception, leaking just a week ago. Huawei have now officially announced the TalkBand B5 in China and h ave release all the details aside from the price.
The TalkBand B5 is the successor to the B3 but the Chinese are not fans of the number four (in Chinese it sounds like death) and have thus skipped that number. The new device is expected to have its price announced on the 18th when they are also expected to announce the Nova 3.
The TalkBand B5 will arrive with a bigger display than its predecessor with the 1.13 inch AMOLED touchscreen display having a 300 x 160 pixel resolution. Once again the TalkBand B5 will be able to be used as a fitness tracker as well as a Bluetooth headset.
As a Bluetooth headset it supports high definition voice and has a dual microphone with noise reduction. Functionality-wise there is also caller-ID, call mute and speed dial options.
The fitness tracker side of things includes a 24 hour heart rate monitor with Huawei TruRelax Technology that analyses the changes in your heart rate to assess your stress levels. There is also sleep monitoring that analyses your sleep patterns and then offer sleep recommendations (sleep more?). The basic fitband functionality such as step counting, calorie calculation and distance measurement is included along with some more advanced running plan information.
What would a fitband be without some form of water resistance and the TalkBand B5 doesn’t disappoint with an IP67 rating. It also connects to your device using Bluetooth 4.2.
Available in a sports edition in either Ash, Black or Brown colours or a business edition with a metal strap there is the option to purchase other 18mm straps in silicone, leather and stainless steel. Pricing is unknown at this stage but is expected next week.
Huawei seem to have packed a lot into this fitband and we can’t wait to see it land here in Australia. At this stage we have not heard back from Huawei regarding its availability here but will let you know as soon as we do.
google pay? lol
Good question.
It needs the following:
-NFC (for payments)
-Google assistant
-Snapdragon 3100 processor.
Any watch lacking any of the above is dead in the water.
