Making news all over Android circles over the Christmas break is the Samsung official Wireless Charging S-View Cover for the Galaxy Note 3. I don’t know of anyone who has gone back from wireless charging to a wired option by choice, the convenience of wireless is truly wonderful. Once you’ve had it wireless is a must have accessory for any new phone. So the hugely popular S-View covers from Samsung with the addition of Wireless Charging to the Galaxy Note 3 version will only add further hype to their accessory sales, except for 1 fairly major problem…
The AUD$80 or so that it’s going to cost you to get your hands on one through onlie retail channels
That’s not pocket change and for something that doesn’t offer a huge amount of protection to your device (when compared with an Otterbox or Ballistic case) it’s not a decision people will be jumping at quickly. If you’ve had an S-View cover with a previous phone and want wireless charging this is a no brainer, the good news is you can pick up Wireless Qi charging pads for as little as $20 on ebay these days if you don’t already have one.
Ausdroid contacted the Samsung experience stores in Melbourne and Sydney to check on the expected release of the cover through official channels in Australia to be told
from both stores. So we reached out to Samsung’s PR company to find out more, with no answer as yet (they’re on holidays).
Accessories have traditionally had supply issues in Australia, are Samsung hurting themselves by setting such high prices on their mobile accessories?
Would this be as fast as my USB 3.0 Wired Charger?
‘I don’t know of anyone who has gone back from wireless charging to a wired option by choice, the convenience of wireless is truly wonderful’
I did. I have a Nexus 5 and a LG WCP-300 wireless charger. I really prefer wire charging as it is just much faster… I can sell my wireless charger on eBay now.
Strange you say that I also have the same LG wireless charger and find it charges almost as quick, approx 1% per min.
