Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro is already IP68 rated, but what if you wanted to take it further? At the launch announcement, Huawei CEO Richard Yu spoke briefly about an underwater case for the phone. However, it wasn’t clear when it would become available. Well, the new waterproof case has now gone on sale in China.

The case allows Huawei Mate 20 Pro users to take the phone with them underwater to a depth of 5 metres for up to 1 hour. Better yet, the case enables a special underwater mode on the Mate 20 Pro to capture the best underwater images.

Unsurprisingly, the case does add a bit of bulk to the svelte Mate 20 Pro, as well as physical buttons to capture photos and video. Thanks to the technology involved, users will still be able to access the touchscreen (though underwater it mightn’t be so reliable).

At 599 Yuan, the case should be available for around $119 locally. We’ve reached out to Huawei for local availability.

Really

Apparently it also has an underwater camera mode as well from what other sites are saying.
