Cloudflare’s play for the go-to DNS service on the Internet takes another step today, with the launch of mobile apps supporting its 1.1.1.1 DNS service. First announced back in April, Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 DNS service has a full focus on privacy and speed. It is among the fastest DNS resolvers available, and the company keeps no logs of user activity.

So confident are Cloudflare that the company promised:

“We will never log your IP address (the way other companies identify you). And we’re not just saying that. We’ve retained KPMG to audit our systems annually to ensure that we’re doing what we say.”

Available today, the Android and iOS apps for Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 are pretty simple. In fact, there’s simply one button to make the app work. Tap it, wait for activation, and off you go. Tap again, and it’s off. Easier than any VPN, the price is right (it’s free), and you instantly get a much more private browsing experience. It’s not a VPN, but it offers a reasonable level of protection. The service also circumvents DNS poisoning attempts, of the kind used by Holywood to block certain websites in Australia.

Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 DNS is free and works on Android, iOS, Windows, MacOS, Linux, Chromebooks, and most internet routers. Cloudflare also has a developer program, which allows developers to integrate 1.1.1.1 DNS security directly into apps and browsers.
