The ever growing list of financial institutions offering Google Pay to their users has expanded again, though it’s also taken a name off the list with two of the institutions merging.
Former Australia-wide financial services organisation Big Sky Building Society has announced their merger with Australian Unity, with the merger going into effect on October 26th according to the banks website.
Replacing Big Sky Building Society on the list of Google Pay providers in Australia are UBank and Border Bank. According to UBank, their customers are now able to use their Ultra Visa Debit card with not only Google Pay, but Samsung Pay, Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay as well. Border Bank is advising their customers that they can use their Police & Border Bank Visa Credit Card, Visa Debit Card, and Visa Equity Maximiser in Google Pay.
As usual, setting up Google Pay is easy with a phone with NFC and Android 4.4 or above running the Google Pay app from Google Play all that’s really needed. Once setup, users simply follow the on-screen instructions to enable their compatible cards.
Google Pay allows payments of up to $100 without a pin being entered at Tap & Pay enabled EFTPOS locations all over Australia, however as with your Tap & Pay card you’ll simply have to enter your pin once the amount goes over.
If you’re a UBank or Border Bank customer and new to Google Pay you can also take advantage of their current promotion offering $10 of Google Play credit after making their first five transactions using Google Pay.
To install Google Pay on your phone, head over to the Google Play Store and grab it now.
