After updating their Contacts app the other day it appears the Google Phone Beta has finally added dark mode promised back in August, meaning it’s nearly here for mainstream users.

The dark mode switch is showing in Google Phone beta v26.0.221539659, which means you either have to opt-in to the beta by clicking this link or finding the link at the bottom of the Google Play Store link – or of course you can grab it from APKMirror.

To enable Dark Mode in the Dialler, you simply go to Settings > Display Options and flick the toggle for ‘Dark Theme’ and you’ll be seeing that dark theme throughout your dialler – which matches nicely with the updated Contacts app.

If this is in the Beta for Google Phone, it’s only a matter of time before it appears in the general Google Phone release. If you’re not into opting into Beta releases you shouldn’t have too long to wait.

Very much enjoying third party manufacturers who’ve had this feature for ages

If you have the system wide dark theme active, the Phone app will automatically be in dark mode with no user input required.

Would be nice to get this on non-pixel devices.
