A couple of weeks ago the internet was a buzz with the FUD surrounding the 50x zoom offered by Huawei. After a few fake videos were circulated Huawei were accused of creating a spying tool. Hopefully that has all been put to bed because the OPPO Reno will support a 60x digital zoom when it is released.
In a game of one-up-manship OPPO VP Shen Yiren Brian has released a teaser on his Weibo page showing the OPPO Reno implementing 60x digital zoom. The OPPO Reno has a 10x optical zoom thanks to its periscope camera showed off at MWC this year but not happy stopping there OPPO will have an even greater digital zoom.
The OPPO Reno is a true premium flagship packing a 6.4 inch AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 855, X50 5G modem, 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of onboard storage as well as a very cool-looking shark fin pop-up selfie camera.
The OPPO Reno will most likely be one of Telstra’s first three 5G devices, which one we will have to wait and see with the race on to be first. As we have seen with the Samsung Galaxy Fold though, first is not always best.
It’s hard to imagine a smart phone with 50 or 60 X zoom and be fairdinkum ,
I have old binoculars floating around that are 8 X zoom ,
I have a dedicated camera with 83 X zoom , and a long way from 80 ish zoom it gets really hard to hold subject hand held..
Sounds interesting though.
