Google Assistant is working its way into our lives in a deeper and more meaningful ways. For those users who have made the decision to simplify electronic life and move to Chromebooks, there’s good news with Google looking to bring the Assistant to more Chromebooks.
This is all happening through the latest version of ChromeOS that brings the Assistant along with it. Depending on your model of Chromebook, Assistant may not be enabled by default so that’s the first step.
Enabling Assistant on your Chromebook
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3
- Go to settings, Search and Assistant, Google Assistant
- Enable Assistant, you may need to voice train your assistant if you’ve not done so in the past
- ”Hey Google” will now do your bidding (within reason and capability)
If you don’t want to use the voice trigger, “Search” + “a” will also work for you to trigger the Assistant.
There is an ever-evolving array of tasks that you can complete using Google Assistant: Controlling your smart devices, viewing security devices around your home, controlling streaming media and controlling your calendar are barely scratching the surface.
