Some of us simple folks prefer the simpler, more child-friendly games such as every single Nintendo Mario world game under the sun. Earlier this year when Nintendo ended many months of speculation with the announcement of a Mario Kart game for Android we rejoiced. Today it has moved out of beta and onto the Play Store for every one to enjoy.
Mario Kart Tour has been delayed quite a few times and the trailer shows that it promises to be a great game — although some are reporting otherwise. The new game allows the users to race on some of the famous Mario Kart courses, albeit with a seemingly janky steering system. The system offers a simple steering mode with no drifting or a manual steering mode with only drifting.
As you would expect the game monetises itself with in-app purchases but also has a subscription option of US$4.99 per month which gives you very little it seems. Kart upgrades and characters can also be unlocked just by making game progress as per usual. Unfortunately at this stage the game does not seem to be part of the new Google Play Pass service.
The game itself will not begin until you sign into your Nintendo account — yes, it seems there is no way to start the game until you sign into said account. The game itself seems to be a very simplified take on Mario Kart offering basic enjoyment for those who just want to play something not overly complicated (although I would be very hesitant to call Mario Kart difficult no matter what platform you play it on).

Hopefully Nintendo will let Google make it part of Google Play Pass. Even with its IAP and subscription systems, a family game like this really feels like it should be part of Google Play Pass.
