It seems the Northern regions are getting a lot of attention recently with pre-announcements for phones, with this time the Netherlands office of LG apparently pre-announcing the LG G2 Mini ahead of the official unveiling at Mobile World Congress at least according to GSMInfo.nl.
According to the site, the leaked specs which appeared the other day are correct with the LG G2 Mini being a Mini in name only with none of the higher end specs of its larger, faster brother. The phone will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and come with a 4.7″ IPS LCD display with a disappointing (540×960) resolution. Other specs include 1GB of RAM, 8MP Rear camera and 1.3MP Front-facing camera as well as 8GB of storage but with microSD Card slot to expand. There will also be 4G LTE support.
The Verge was able to further confirm that the SoC included will be a Snapdragon 400 and that the LG G2 Mini will be launched as Dual-SIM, although with LG this arrangement could be based on specific markets, similar to how they launch their other phones. They were also able to ascertain that the phone will be powered by a removable 2,440mAh battery.
Software wise, the G2 Mini will have one thing over the full size G2 when it launches in March – Android 4.4. The G2 Mini will launch with Kit Kat aboard while it’s older, yet more powerful brother languishes on Android 4.2. The G2 Mini is expected to have many of the features that the G2 will have including Guest mode.
The rollout of the phone will begin in Europe with the Netherlands in April, priced at 300 to 400 euros(AUD$456-$600).has been slated to begin in March in Russia before heading to surrounding countries and then onto the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, and the rest of Europe.
There’s nothing official on the LG Press site as yet, but we will be checking with LG Australia about a possible launch here, but we expect more full information after their Press Event at Mobile World Congress.
