Bose introducing high end noise cancelling earbuds, sports earbuds, sunglasses and have another go at sleepbuds

Australia is extremely rarely first with the offerings of new products, especially this year during COVID-19 times. Hot on the heels of overseas launches though are some new offerings from Bose which look interesting to say the least.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

Retailing at a cool $399.95 the QuietComfort Earbuds look to take on the QuietComfort moniker and represent it in the fullest. Using a patented combination of active and passive noise cancellation the QC Earbuds promise the noise cancelling of their best over-ear headphones, all from a “compact” wireless earbud.

The noise cancelling is adjustable for when you want to increase your ambient awareness along with a full transparency option to allow you to easily carry on conversations while wearing them. Bose promise you will not find better sounding earbuds with the addition of their Volume-optimised Active EQ technology which automatically boosts the lows and highs so the media you’re listening to remains consistently balanced.

As you would expect in 2020 they include support for your digital assistants and offer touch controls on each earbud. The IPX4 rating allows you to feel comfortable wearing them in the rain or even exercising and not have to worry about them malfunctioning.

Each charge will give you 6 hours of playback with another 12 within the charging case. The charging case also supports Qi charging There is also a fast charge where 15 minutes of charging gives another 2 hours of playback. With Bluetooth 5.1 support you can easily listen with just a single earbud in, whichever one you choose.

The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds are on sale now wherever good electronics are sold for $399.95.

Bose Sport Earbuds

The new Bose Sport Earbuds are smaller than the previous generation but still offer the full IPX4 water resistance rating and promise even better sound with the same Volume-optimised Active EQ found in the more expensive QC earbuds.

The earbuds come with Bose’s StayHear Max tips which will keep the earbuds in no matter how strenuous your exercise. Included is a charging case that adds to the 5 hours of battery per charge by another 10 hours. The same quick charge capabilities are present in the Sport Earbuds as the QC earbuds.

The Bose Sport Earbuds retail for $299.99 and are available now.

Bose Frames – Tempo, Tenor and Soprano

In something I never thought I’d see from a big name audio brand like Bose are sunglasses with speakers. The new offerings provide the protection “and style” of premium sunglasses while also providing the functionality of premium headphones — all in a single wearable package. Yes they do block up to 99% of UV rays and do not weigh as much as a brick — just 50 grams more than normal sunglasses.

The new frames introduced are a sports Tempo version, engineered especially for outdoor workouts, a smaller square style called the Tenor and a Soprano subtle “cat-eye” design. All frames promise to deliver noticeably better base response over the original frames.

These sound like a gimmick but if you use both of these types of things together they may be right up your alley. We will have to check these out before we can comment on their sound quality but you would expect something premium from Bose.

Bose Sleepbuds II

We were not sold on the usefulness of the Bose Sleepbuds first generation and now Bose are back with a second attempt — a new and improved version. The new Sleepbuds II contain technology which is “clinically proven” to help people fall asleep faster. They include a better noise masking functionality and new categories of sound to help you relax more.

There is also a new ear tip for a softer, more secure fit and promise to help you get a better quality, longer sleep. They are also IPX4 rated and come in a charging case which offers an extra 30 hours of battery life to the 10 hours of charge in the Sleepbuds II. The Sleepbuds II go on sale next week for $379.95

While Bose products are never cheap you can be sure when you buy them you are getting top quality products. Just how useful these products are to you can vary from one person to the next. If you are in the market for anything like these Bose is definitely a brand you should be looking at — in the meantime, if you see any of them in a store near you check them out, they may be just what is missing in your life.
