It’s way overdue, but the Beta client for Twitter is now allowing users to log in to the app with Google SSO credentials. While it’s early days, according to 9to5Google, this is for new twitter and those already linked to a Google account.
The addition of SSO functionality minimises time commitment for users creating a new account. It also means that existing users (who have an account active on their device) can log in, nearly instantaneously to the app.
A point of note is that — at the time of publishing this article — it appears to be a staged rollout and not yet active for our devices. In theory, you could change your listed email address to your Google account, but that has triggered the signup process when tested by other sites. Hopefully these little niggles will be ironed out before rolling out the final release candidate.
