We’re just a week out from Father’s day and, and while socks and t-shirts are great, it’s always nice to get a surprise. We’ve compiled a bit of a gift guide across a number of tech sub-genres.
The Gamer Dad
There are lots of goodies out there to improve your gaming experience, from the simple additions to the superb. HyperX has plenty on offer through JB Hi-Fi at the moment, including the Alloy Origins 65. A 65% scale keyboard which is slightly smaller than a tenkeyless model but will do the job for first-person shooters and strategy games.
If you’ve got a bit more cash to splash around, then perhaps the HTC VIVE Cosmos, down from $1,299.00 to $799.00 is an outstanding value.
If Dad is a basketball fan, then a pre-order for NBA2K23 will undoubtedly put a big smile on his face. Particularly with the option of the Michael Jordan edition available across platforms, it’s a very exciting time to be a gamer.
Security Conscious Dad
We’ve had the opportunity to check out a lot of security gear as part of our review cycles. Arlo is one brand that has never disappointed, delivering quality hardware and an impressive user experience. So the discount of the Essential Spotlight Camera from $199.00 to $159.20 is pretty enticing.
Relaxation, fitness and lifestyle
Recently we engaged the assistance of a personal trainer to take a critical look at the Suunto 5 Peak. The wrap-up was that it’s a good quality device that has a lot of great features. The tracking capability for not just activity but fitness improvements really impressed our ring-in, Shane. It’s on special across multiple retailers for $349.00 in the lead-up to fathers day.
Last week, we noted the availability of the Philips PicoPix Max projector noting:
It’s a $1,495.00 projector — available from JB Hi-Fi — that you can take anywhere with you, provided you have a projection space. There are plenty of lumens for a variety of environments, it’s sporting Android TV (so you can install all your streaming apps) and has built-in speakers. If that’s not enough, the PicoPix Max also has a battery that will last around four hours of playback and an impressive range of connectivity, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C, USB and HDMI.
We’ll be taking a look at one in the near future, but on paper, it promises a lot.
Huawei may have lost its market share in the western market, but there are still a number of offerings from the company worth looking at. One of those devices is the Huawei Watch GT3 Pro that Jo recently reviewed noting:
The GT3 Pro is an amazing piece of technology. The screen display is astoundingly good, and the capabilities of this device are impressive. There has been an obvious amount of attention paid to the construction of this watch and all of its fine details, and the GT3 Pro has a sleek well crafted luxury feel worthy of its price point.
The price drop to $695.00 from $999.00 is a tidy saving on a device that can do it all.
This is far from an exhaustive list when it comes to available bargains. If you’ve sighted anything that you think the Ausdroid community need to know about, share them with us in the comments below.
