Game of Thrones Ascent
Winter is here. Disruptor Beam and developer Kongregate have brought the game Game of Thrones Ascent to Google Play. But hold on there, it’s not a sex and violence fuelled hack’n’slash, instead you’ll find yourself reading and scheming in a modern day version of the text-based adventures which featured heavily in early computing.

The game ‘Offers in-app purchases'(IAP), so naturally it’s free to download and play. The IAP is to get around in-game timers, and of course purchase in-game currency you can use to purchase goods in the game. You can of course play for free, it will just take a lot longer to get to your end result – The Iron Throne.

In Game of Thrones Ascent, you’ll pledge allegiance to one of the well known houses from the series: Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, Baratheon, Tyrell, or Greyjoy. You’ll hire armies, or explore Westeros as you take part in over 2,500 quests and dozens of adventures. The game is feature packed, including updated content as the story in the TV-Series and books unfolds.

There’s a strong social element, the Play Store advises you can ‘Sign into Google+ to compete in the power leaderboards, or challenge friends to match your Achievements!’ but when actually downloading and playing the game, there was no Google+ sign-in option, instead you get options for Facebook and Kongregate sign-in; perhaps a future update?

It doesn’t look too bad, if the political side of Game of Thrones appeals to you. Check it out now on Google Play.

The app was not found in the store. 🙁

Broken playstore link? I might give it a crack… i haven’t read the novels, but love the show, so wouldn’t mind digging a little deeper into the story without having to read all the novels.
