Sony MWC 2015

With speculation mounting over whether Sony will or will not have a press conference at MWC 2015, the rumour mill is still moving along at a fair pace about the possible Xperia Z4 announcement. There have been leaked specs, images, and even components, but what we haven’t seen is anything concrete.

We may not get that concrete for a little while yet, but a previously unseen phone has popped by Geekbench and tested its mettle, and it could possibly be the Xperia Z4. Going by the codename Sony 78YB16RC98PW62B1, the device is running Android 5.0.2, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.

We don’t get much else from the benchmarking, except that we can tell this is a high-end, high-performance model with the next generation of Snapdragon processor. None of Sony’s current range feature this chipset, so it’s a good possibility for an as-yet unannounced phone, of which the Xperia Z4 is one possibility.

Rounding up what we already kind of know, is that it will visually resemble the Xperia Z3 before it, with 3GB of RAM, an improved camera sensor, and of course Android Lollipop to boot.
