After launching their Google Hangouts spin-off ‘Helpouts’ back in November 2013, Google has announced that the service will close its doors on April 20.
The service has not apparently been a massive success, with Google advising the reasoning behind the closure as a lack of expansion.
The Helpouts community includes some engaged and loyal contributors, but unfortunately, it hasn’t grown at the pace we had expected. Sadly, we’ve made the tough decision to shut down the product.
For those ‘engaged and loyal contributors’, Google is offering the option to download your Helpouts data via Takeaway from the 20th of April, with the data remaining in place until November 1st.
Google has already removed the Google Helpouts app from the Google Play store, just in case you wanted to give it one final go, so it appears the service is well and truly dead.
