FourSquare’s ‘other’ app Swarm, used to register check-ins from users after the company split the functionality out last year has received an update. Along with a few visual tweaks, the update has brought the ability to to send messages to nearby friends even if they don’t have the Swarm app installed.
The ability to send messages to local friends via Swarm whilst checking-in to your local location such as cafes, restaurants, movie theatres, railway stations etc, is somewhat welcomed addition to the app, instead of having to switch between Swarm and your SMS Messenger app.
The update also brings the ability to view a friend’s check-in and quickly see more details about the place and which friends have checked in to the same locations and see when they were last there.
