Google’s fitness tracking app My Tracks, which at times feels like the forgotten middle child of the Google app catalog, has received an update.
The update which is coming soon to your phone – or tablet (Why are you jogging with a tablet?) – will bring a new look when you’re checking out your maps – a Google Earth style look. You can choose the new ‘Earth’ view from the settings in My Tracks, to see the route you just took in delicious, data chewing 3D.
Once you select ‘Earth’ from the view, simply zoom down and then use the two-finger tilt gesture to get a 3D feel to your route.
It’s a pretty neat feature, and great to see My Tracks still receiving love from Google.

I use My Tracks for tracking where I have been 4x4ing. Works great.
I don’t like it. used it for a week uninstalled it and purchased locus maps pro. I like my maps for offline use.
Excellent source!!! I hope so they given applications are indeed wonderful to use…
My Tracks seems very basic, as it only records where you’ve been. I like Track Navigator which lets you build a map elsewhere online and then import it so it can give you spoken directions. Don’t see the point of My Tracks to be honest.
