Sony-Xperia-ZUTogari
A link has been posted by notorious leaker @evleaks referring to vr-zone citing that the previously code-named ‘Togari’ has been designated as the Xperia ZU and could possibly be slated for a June 25th launch. The phone has been seen on and off over the last few months, most recently on a French Nokia blog.

VR-Zone advised that a Sony insider has provided them with hardware specs on the phablet, 6.44″ FullHD 1080p Triluminos color display with the X-Reality Engine, 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU, 8 MP camera and IP58 certification making it water-resistant at depths of 1m for up to 30 minutes.

The story includes an invite from Sony Germany for an event on the 25th of June in which invitees are invited to take a ‘look into the future’.

Lust On More

It’s time For the next step. On Tuesday, 25 June 2013 from 15 clock we throw together a first look into the future.

More details will follow in Brief

As usual there is no actual mention of the device being shown off in the invite.

The title photo comes from esato while the rest of the information has been gleaned from a Sony ‘insider’. The @latter21 embedded in the photo could possibly be the same user on Twitter/Instagram who has a large number of pictures of Sony devices.

Overall the device looks extremely thin, with one user on the esato forums citing ‘6.5mm thin’ which if true is a true landmark although with a 6.44″ screen, Sony should still be able to pack a fairly large battery inside. The pictured phone certainly fits the style of the Xperia Z Tablet with a squarish design. We’ll soon find out if the device is indeed coming out on June 25th and we’ll certainly follow up with Sony Australia for more information on it.

Does a Sony Phablet sized device attract you?

Definitely appealing, but not with a glass back. What is Sony thinking? An ultra thin bezel all the way round would help with its pocketability also. My 6.1″ Huawei fits the commonly used recesses in my pants and is thin enough to be discrete. A 1.5Ghz quad core with only 1GB of RAM. It seriously lacks grunt when running multiple applications. Sony will be up against 2 serious players. I like the idea of front facing speakers, alloy or carbon construction not plastic or glass and a superphone at or around 6″. Many of us that are looking to buy… Read more ยป
