Oppo R7 - R7 Plus
Oppo have held a launch event in Beijing, unveiling the latest in their R-series phones the Oppo R7 and R7 Plus.

The Oppo R7 and R7 Plus feature a stylish look, which is underpinned by a full metal body construction. The Oppo R7 comes with a set of capacitive buttons on the body, while the Oppo R7 Plus will get on-screen buttons making it a little more classier than the smaller model. The R7 Plus also gets a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and a slightly upgraded camera solution with laser auto-focus and a dual LED flash.

Spec wise, it seems Oppo has kept the R-series mid-range, going more for style than specs, opting for a Snapdragon 615 processor, but pairing it with 3GB of RAM. Storage on the phones is bolstered by the addition of a microSD card, but you’ll still start with 16GB on the Oppo R7 – though the R7 Plus gets a more roomy 32GB of on-board storage.

Full Specs for the phones haven’t been released as yet, but you’ll find:

The whole emphasis for the R series, which started on the R5, and now continues on the R7 and R7 Plus is style, which is spelled out in the first video that Oppo has launched called ‘Style in a Flash’:

Oppo claims the launch is for the Chinese market only, but it’s clear that this is a launch event for an international audience, with many journalists from as far away as the US in attendance. There’s no doubt Oppo is aiming high here.

The phone will hit Australia some time this year, where local pricing will be announced. Pricing for the phone has been listed as CNY 2,499 or around AUD$510 for the Oppo R7, while the Oppo R7 Plus will sell for CNY 2950 or a shade over AUD$600.

Like the specs of the Plus but 6″ screen is too big. Should have had same features on 5″

Nice looking phone, just wish they made the R7 as thick as the plus and made the battery bigger.

After seeing DSE are going to be selling these, checked out these specs and had the exact same thought. I’d rather an extra few mm for a decent sized battery, anything less than ~3000mAh is just too small.

It’s the greatest bugbear of my Nexus 5 but I don’t want a 6″ phone!
