Nexus 6 - Header Resized
With all the attention on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, the Motorola Nexus 6 has lost a lot of the shininess of its former glory. With a new Nexus phone (or phones) on the market, the usual process is to wait for the previous model to simply fade away and that appears to be what’s happening with only one model left of the once flagship Nexus phone.

The Cloud White model with 32GB of storage is still available for purchase at the fairly high price of $669, which includes free shipping (3-5 Business day) from the Google Store, where it ships within 1-2 Business Days. You can of course expedite shipping with paid shipping where $23.00 will get you 1-3 Business Day shipping.

Spec wise, the Nexus 6 is still a fairly decent buy, but is starting to show its age in the spec list, but Google is still delivering software updates to the phone and it has a good amount of life left in it.

Nexus 6 Specifications:

  • 5.96 AMOLED display with 1440 x 2560 resolution (493ppi)
  • Quad-core 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 with Adreno 420 GPU
  • 3 GB RAM
  • 32 GB or 64GB memory
  • 13MP rear facing camera with OIS and dual-LED (ring) flash
  • 2MP front facing camera
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.1LE, NFC
  • LTE bands 1,3,5,7,8,9,19,20,28,41
  • 3220mAh battery
  • Android 6.0
  • 159.3 x 83 x 10.1 mm @ 184gm

Google has dropped the price on the handset to just $199USD on the Google Store as part of their ‘Black Friday’ deals, but no such discount has appeared here. There is of course better offers out there, JB Hifi can offer you the Blue 32GB model in their stores for a low $588, but Kogan can go even lower to just $529 for the 32GB Blue model or $559 for the 32GB White Model – so it pays to shop around.

If you’re in the market for a Nexus 6, judging from the prices we’re seeing the handset is fast selling out – so get in fast.

I took advantage of this when the 6p was announced and pricing was released. Last year’s N6 is still a decent specc’d phone and I bought the 64gig version from google play for $699. Decent price, and should see at least the next two years of software updates.
