What do we want out of our next high-end mobile processor? Improved performance, decreased battery usage, smaller footprint? Through using Samsung’s industry first 10 nm FinFET process Qualcomm hopes to achieve all these things and more.

There’s not a lot of details about what we can expect from the Snapdragon 835, what we do know if it will have a smaller footprint leaving more space for OEMs to include more batteries and headphones jacks, include Quick Charge 4 and 27% higher performance or up to 40% lower power consumption compared to the 14 nm process.

Take note of the or; you get 27% more performance or 40% more battery life, but not both. Of course, Qualcomm could elect for a mix and have both a performance increase along with power savings. The Snapdragon 835 is in production now and should make it’s way into devices sometime in the first half of 2017.
