The Moto Z is an amazing phone. Great software, amazing battery life and innovative mods to add functionality to it. Now it is set to get even better with news coming out of Moto that it may be getting a Moto Mod that will add Tango functionality to it.

Speaking to PCMag, Motorola’s CEO Aymar de Lencquesaing hinted that a Tango Moto Mod was in the works saying:

The tablet folks [at Lenovo] did a phablet and worked with Google, the Tango team, to come out with a Tango phablet. Going forward, we’ll have to address as a group how do we reconcile the products that are at the fringe? We’re likely to to have a Tango module to basically enable the Z to have Tango functionality.

Tango is a camera and software setup from Google that allows the phone to map indoor areas, so to add this functionality to the Moto Z makes the Moto Z an even more attractive purchase. With Motorola’s parent company Lenovo producing the only Tango device currently available Motorola creating a Moto Mod to do the same thing is not much of a stretch. Hopefully the Mod that brings Tango functionality won’t be as expensive as the other Mods we have seen for the Moto Z. Unfortunately the cost of them often puts them out of the reach of most people.

I know one Ausdroider who was disappointed that the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro sold out so quickly and was unable to purchase a Tango phone so maybe this is one he may now consider. How about you? Does anyone here have a use case to a Tango device as an everyday device?
