Optus has quietly added a new device to its prepaid line up of devices with its own branded Optus Start 2 device.

The Optus X Start is a white label device and is actually a ZTE-made device with the product code being ZTE P500 and is the second Android Go powered device to be offered by the company.

The full list of specs include:

  • 5-inch FWVGA+ Display (960 x 480)
  • 1.4GHz quad core Spreadtrum CPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB onboard storage, expandable to 256GB via MicroSD card
  • 5MP rear camera
  • 2MP front facing camera
  • 2000 mAh Li-ion, user-replaceable
  • Blue Version 4.2
  • MicroSD charger
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Android 9 (Go Edition)

It is a little disappointing the device is shipping with Android 9 Go edition instead of the current Android 10 Go Edition, but at the price Optus is selling it for, beggars can’t be choosers. The Optus X Start 2 is available through the Optus website or your local Optus store for just $79 and is available in grey / black colour only.

Optus are also currently offering $20 off the recommended retail price on all of their pre-paid devices at the checkout meaning the Optus X Start 2 will come down in price to approximately $59. This deal is only available through the Optus website and will end on the 14th June 2020 unless otherwise stated.
