Virgin - Presto
The video streaming wars are getting more intricate, with Optus subsidiary Virgin Mobile today announcing they have entered into a partnership with video on-demand streaming service Presto to offer bonus data and free access to the service for selected Post Paid customers.

From today, select new and existing post-paid customers can sign up for a bonus 2GB data allowance on their plan for every month they subscribe to a Presto entertainment bundle – for a maximum of 6-months. Customers wanting the additional 2GB data will have to actually stream Presto on their mobile to be eligible and usage must be in consecutive months.

Customers on $59 and above Post-Paid plans, as well as customers on $39 and above SIM only plans are included in the deal and will also be eligible to receive a free one month subscription to Presto. The offer is valid for new and existing signups from today until the 31st of May 2016.

Presto is a premium service powered by Foxtel, offering TV, Movie or both from $9.99 per month for either of the TV or Movie services or for $14.99 per month to get both. Presto has some pretty good content such as TV shows like The Walking Dead, The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family, as well as recent and classic release movies such as Dracula, Pompei, Spies Like Us and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

It’s an interesting move, given that Presto has normally been associated with Telstra, a major shareholder in Foxtel. Optus, Virgin’s primary owner on the other hand is mostly associated with Netflix who they partnered with when the video streaming giant launched here in Australia earlier this year. As a smaller operator, Virgin is still somewhat independent and deals with music streaming service Guvera, has shown they are actively chasing bundled content to differentiate themselves as a service.
