Optus has sent out a small (20MB) OTA update to Motorola DEXT owners that is meant to be a security fix as well as an update to MotoBLUR. Before you get your hopes up, the update does not upgrade the phone past Android 1.5, maybe next time. Update details after the break.

Guys, here’s the “Update Information” for my DEXT (about to update):

This software update contains Power Management, Bluetooth and Multimedia enhancements, as well as the addition of the Optus Care Application. There is no charge for this update.

It also seems to have fixed some bugs for me in the Messaging app and added some animations to the interface in some of the MotoBLUR widgets. Also new is the Optus My Account app which can’t seem to actually connect to the My Account data and says my account hasn’t been activated. I called Optus and was told that the app I am describing doesn’t exist and if it did it wouldn’t work. Right. I know the Galaxy S comes with it preinstalled so it has to work. its a bit sad that they are up to 2.2 in the states and we in Australia are stuck on 1.5 what is the go with that?

Jen, they haven’t got 2.2 in the US, they’re still on 1.5. The software update was delayed without warning on the day it was due to be released OTA.
