Well here’s some exciting news, according to the peeps over at IntoMobile, the Samsung Galaxy S II is headed to Telstra as the Bluetooth SIG on the device is listed as i9100T. That ‘T’ there stands for Telstra, as you’ll find the i9000T is the model number Telstra’s variant of the original Samsung Galaxy S. So who else is ready to see 21mbit speeds on the NextG network? For a premium price of course.

Fuck telstra

Anonymous

Any idea when this is due to hit Telstra? I can get a free uprade on Virgin, but would rather sign up to Telstra, but no one @ Telstra seems to know anything! What’s new?

Austpac

Wil be available in T-shops from 26 July

Jay Kim

already got the galaxy s2 and im loving it =D

Ash

How much

Glenn McKenzie

Could someone confirm for me, do i need to get the specific “T” variant of the this phone for it to work with NextG or, as some information ive read has started, its a quad band phone, and will work on the 850mhz bandwidth regardless of branding?

DAZZA ICEMAN

FYI: It wont be coming with NFC 🙁

I have the current S on Optus, and I’m really considering getting this one and switching to Telstra, just because Optus has such bad coverage. Even in the middle of Brisbane you constantly lose all signal. I really hope Telstra has a reasonable plan available.

Tim

Fully Agree. I left 3 for Optus becasue I was told they had improved. It was a good move gone bad! They have blamed everything from the phone (SGS) itself, to where I live, to where I work – inner Sydney mind you … everyhting except their network! I never get consistant data coverage. Spend 80pc of my time on 2G.

Hopefully Telstra will be reasonable priced… did I say Hopefully.

Darrenaquilina

optus coverage is 100 % better then 3 & voda & telstra i am in the city as well & i have the best coverage allways at full i do now were u r but u must be down in a 1 in 10000 black spot?? …. so optus has the best coverage hands downs……..

Azleep

Screw Optus, their 3g service will make this awesome phone shit. I really hope telstra price it well (wishful thinking)

Darrenaquilina

optus will on the 4g net work soon voda/ 3 G / r telstra going to wate intell the end off the year HA HA HA go optus i do not y u thing the 3g service is shit it work fine & the best for me it must be were u live in a hole i gess ps the Samsung Galaxy S II phone is number 1 nothing can beat this phone apple 3g -4g is shit

Azleep

I do not understand what you typed.
This phone does not support ‘4G’, my point was that currently the Optus network has been experiencing congestion issues to the point that there are many threads in whirlpool about it. I currently own the SGS, it’s an excellent phone, but as I said, my experience with the Optus network is that it sucks. South Melboune must be a hole…

HahaDazza

Dazza, you are flat out kidding yourself if you think optus has better service than telstra! The optus network is fast becoming a joke due to congestion! I had been with optus for years and never dreamed of going to telstra but optus let me out of my contract early without charge due to constant congestion in my area. Telstras network shits on optus and price difference is minimal now days

dazza iceman

is the Samsung Galaxy S II coming to optus soon and how much ?? dose any one now they say 1 of may is launch day he in aus voda/optus/telstraall Get it soon

Yusuf

800×480 res on such a large screen just doesn’t cut it for me

Jay Kim

i have the phone and you cant see pixels suprisingly. the pentil real stripe matrix really does its job well

Anonymous

Damn this looks to be a nice phone; only if I had the money for it. This phone better be released free on a reasonable cap. I hope that it will be released soon anyway, teasers are driving me insane!

David Anderton

it will be on every network

Mikhail Cass

Any word on which version this is?
Tegra 2 + SLCD or
Exynos + SAMOLED+

I really want the (S)Exynos Chip. I wouldn’t mind as much if the Tegra 2 came with SAMOLED+ but… who knows..

WIN

Well it does say i9100 which is the one with Exynos and SAMOLED+. The one with Tegra 2 and SLCD is known as i9103.

Mikhail Cass

Thanks! Hope 3/Voda or Optus get this soon!

Mikhail Cass

NOOOOOO!
I mean, they have an awesome network but their pricing is not for everyone.

Ilija Vrtaric

you could always buy one outright from Telstra and use it on VHA’s new 850mhz 2G/3G network (NextG basically), it’s unfortunate though that VHA are not offering handsets that utilize this frequency, but apparently according to my cousin whose the manager of the George St (Sydney) VHA store, they’ll most likely be offering these handsets possibly at the end of this year when their adoption of 850mhz towers are closer to completion.

MrSimtang

Well that would be interesting if it is.

Though, didn’t the SGS launch on Telstra on a minimum $99 cap? That’s a bit much for me to be honest.

Inflatable Nerd

Stupid question, but is our version lacking a front facing camera? Can’t see it in the photo.

Interesting......

Someone on WP from Telstra said that the S2 is coming to Telstra as well.

Alan

I’m quite surprised about this, I thought all Galaxy S2 that will be launched in Australia would be more or less the same, considering that it is a quad band device supporting 850/900/1900/2100. I wish more manufacturers would adopt quad band, making the decision of purchasing the device from voda/optus/telstra/internet largely irrelevant.

Anonymous

omfg noooo. need it on optus.

Ilija Vrtaric

will be coming out for all carriers just like the original, although this time around it looks like there won’t be any carrier exclusive (Optus/Virgin)

Adrian Mennie

Waiting for this on optus.

geoff fieldew

Yes please. Speaking of fast mobile data I’ll be banging down the door of the local T-Shop tomorrow morning to grab a telstra elite mifi as where I am now the standard mobile modem just doesn’t cut it.
