CameraCity, the sister site to MobiCity has just advised via their blog that they now have the Nikon S800c in stock. The 16MP camera which runs Android 2.3, has a 3.5″ OLED touchscreen and can capture 1080P video and comes with a 10x Optical zoom is selling for $399 + $19 delivery at the moment and is available in Black or White.

So far no local retailers have the S800c in-stock although JB HiFi advised that they have the S800c in their system as a class ‘A’ device meaning that they could place an order for it, but they had no ETA. Prices varied from store to store from $473 to $499 so $399 with $19 delivery from CameraCity is quite a decent price.

I think the concept of a point and shoot camera running Android offers quite a variety of use case scenarios, although it remains to be seen how well Nikon has implemented Android on the S800c. As this is Nikon’s first foray into Android, the whole question of whether the camera will receive any updates from Gingerbread. Are you at all interested in a point and shoot camera running Android?
