ASUS has finally broken its silence on the 3G-enabled version of its Nexus 7 tablet, announcing availability across Australia and New Zealand from December 2012. The only 3G model will be the 32 GB version of the tablet, costing $369 – a little less than expected, given the pricing rumours in the month since its announcement.
The new version of the tablet will be available from Harvey Norman, JB HiFi, Dick Smith Electronics, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Radio Rentals, Office Works, EB Games, BSR, authorised ASUS channel resellers and the Google Play store. ASUS’s quoted prices seem around $20 above the Play store pricing, although the Play store will set you back $20 shipping, so it all evens out.
We’re seeing retailers accepting orders for 3G units and stock should be arriving at online and offline retailers around Australia. It looks like the Google Play store still doesn’t seem to have been updated to sell the device, but it’ll only be a matter of time. The device is compatible with all Australian 3G networks, and is not carrier-locked.

Kogan emailed me overnight about my Nexus 3G order placed two days ago – “We are currently processing your order and expect to confirm it for dispatch shortly”
I already have a WiFi model, but miss the always online advantage of a 3G device.

I just bought the Wi-Fi only 32gb. I can’t see the value in having 3g on a tablet, I personally prefer to just tether it to my phone
Since most of ur google play content is stored in the cloud, it’s better to have 3g, rather than continously download your content for use abroad.

Almost wish I held off buying my 16GB for this, but it’s still a $170 difference on what I paid. Love the fact that it’s coming out very cheap though. Maybe one day 3G/4G will be standard no matter what?
