In the middle of last year we received information that Crazy Johns would be closing some of their retail stores and this did indeed come to pass with a number of stores closing their doors. This morning we’ve been tipped that Crazy Johns wanted to take this further and close all their store, we’ve just confirmed this with Crazy Johns parent company Vodafone Hutchison Australia who have confirmed the retiring of the Crazy Johns brand.
Vodafone has advised that as of February 20th, Vodafone will begin to retire the Crazy Johns brand across Australia streamlining their retail brand presence into a single cohesive brand, this means that some Crazy Johns stores will be closing entirely whilst others will be re-branded over the coming months to Vodafone stores over the coming months. Vodafone intends to redeploy as many retail staff as possible from Crazy Johns stores to work in Vodafone stores.
Vodafone maintains a commitment to their existing customers, promising that their service will continue uninterrupted Vodafone as their carrier
Existing Crazy John’s customers will continue to enjoy the value and great service through the Vodafone store network, as well as online, customer care 132299 and mobile MyAccount service.
Vodafone is committed to a smooth transtion for their customers, so this transition should not interrupt service to existing customers at all.
We’ve requested a list of stores that will be closing and which will be re-branding and hope to update this post as soon as possible.

The brand has been a mainstay of Australian telecommunication for a long time. First as a Telstra reseller and then as part of Vodafone.
Of course this is a cost cutting measure that the bleeding VHA badly needs to do at this point, nevertheless, it is a sad day to have one less player in the market.
Always better when there’s more competition around. Still, there’s at least one significant MVNO around for each of the main 3 telcos: Optus-Amaysim/Virgin, Telstra-Kogan (though they STILL haven’t connected my sim after 2 weeks) and Vodafone-Red Bull
