Pocket Neo - Star
Samsung has announced two new phones over night which are quite definitely slotted into the lower end of the range. Samsung is concentrating on the compact, curved form factor of the phones which they describe as designed to ‘easily fit in your pocket or small bag and natural to operate using one hand’.

The specifications are nothing to get terribly excited about and the differences between the two phones are actually fairly minor, both phones come with a 3″ QVGA(320×240) TFT LCD, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage with a microSD Card slot that supports up to 32GB cards, 2MP Rear Camera, Wifi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth as well as GPS(A-GPS and GLONASS). Both are powered by a 1,200mAh Battery and will run Android 4.1 with Touchwiz. Differences between the two phones are seen in the CPU – the Galaxy Star will have a 1GHz CPU while the Galaxy Pocket Neo will have a 850MHz CPU – and the dimensions of the two phones – Galaxy Star will be 104.95×11.9x58mm while the Pocket Now will be 105.11.8×57.8mm but both phones will weigh in at 100.5 grams.

Samsung has advised that both models will be available in Single or Dual SIM configurations, however the availability of the models in these configurations will be dependent on the region. No pricing or release dates for either device have been announced, we have asked Samsung Australia about any local release information for these phones and we’ll let you know as soon as they have anything to announce.

512mb ram for a jelly bean device. that sounds like a great idea! so much for the myth that low end phones don’t need to be terrible…
