There’s only a very limited number of users who have seen and touched, even fewer who are lucky enough to own Google Glass right now. For those prepared to throw caution to the wind and void their warranty, the Google Developers site now includes a page exclusively for Google Glass which includes links to the kernel source and a pre-rooted factory image.

As always, there is the caveat added to the site warning of the dangers of playing with the core software on your device :

Warning: Rooting, unlocking, or flashing your Glass voids your warranty and can leave your device in an irrecoverable state. You will no longer receive OTA updates if you unlock or root your GLass. There is no guarantee that you will receive OTA updates even after flashing back to factory specifications. Proceed at your own risk.

With Google Glass currently limited at this stage, to Google Staff and developers who signed up for Glass at last years Google IO, the users who do have access to the device should be more than qualified to use this software as intended. It’s when it rolls out to the #IfIHadGlass winners over the next few months that things will get interesting.

How long do you think we’ll have to wait for Glass in Australia and will you be investing in the technology? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
