sony-xperia-honami-4k-camera

It looks like we may finally know what Sony have to announce at their IFA event in early September thanks to Chinese website, Digi-Wo. What we’re looking at is the Sony Xperia Honami which, amongst other things, features a 20MP rear camera that can shoot video in 4K. And while that may sound impressive, 4K quality on a mobile device is likely to be compressed beyond belief for storage purposes.

Not much else is known about this particular device, however, rumours floating around the interwebs suggest a 3000mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, Snapdragon 800 CPU, 1080p display >5-inches. The camera itself has a 1/2.3″ sensor and an ISO that goes up 12800 which on paper suggests that it can take good low-light photos.

Now we sit back and wait for a test video from the device to leak, and if all else fails, the Sony event at IFA in a few weeks.

Excited by the camera chops. Depressed by the unwieldy size.
