What you’re looking at, above, could well be an official shot of the HTC One Max, shown next to a regular HTC One (middle) and HTC One Mini (left).
We’ve covered a bit of the HTC One Max so far on Ausdroid, and with it rumoured to be announced at IFA in September (i.e. just around the corner), the rumours have only intensified.
GSMArena are reporting leaked specs for this new device, including a magnificent 2.1MP front camera (same as the HTC One), and it will launch on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean running Sense UI 5.5. GSMArena is also claiming to have confirmation of previously rumoured specs, including a giant 5.9″ 1080p display, Snapdragon 800 chipset (quad-core 2.3GHz Krait 400 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM), the same 4MP UltraPixel camera from the HTC One, and a nice, compatible Wi-Fi a/ac/b/g/n chipset.
The fingerprint scanner remains up the air, though some further leaked photos via Droid Life suggest it is included.
As to the rumours of an included stylus, who knows on that front.

I understand big if it sits comfortably in one hand and for the most part can be operated by that same hand. HTC I feel, should have built and sold a 7″ tablet instead. Do away with the 2 speakers on the front and extend the highly pixelated 1080p screen to mate with all 4 edges. Very cool! As communications technology is supposedly leaning toward being wearable, what about 2 flat, circular or ovalised, bluetooth or wired speakers that look like bling and are warne around the neck and are easily detached. Could that first picture be doctored ? I have a Silver M7 and at the bottom of the backplate in red is the Beats Audio Logo. None in the picture although the Mini is showing as having one.

It’s too big for me, I don’t understand this whole super sized phone phenomenon. I understand small versions, but bigger than current high-end phones is a bit crazy to me. There’s is obviously a market for them though, of cause.
That thing couldn’t even fit in my pocket ffs. If you want a large device buy a tablet!
Everyone’s different. I’m ready to move up to a phablet. I use my phone 95% of the time as a mini-computer and 5% as a phone so why not get a device that’s optimised for this? A tablet is really not portable enough to carry around everywhere. The only thing is that unless I want a look like an idiot, I’ll have to use a headset with one of these, and I’ve never gone down that path before.
