According to Engadget, the rumoured NVIDIA Tegra Tab has passed through the FCC in the USA, providing more information into the mysterious and yet to be announced tablet.

NVIDIA’s upcoming mystery tablet codenamed P1640 has been tipped to be called on launch, the ‘NVIDIA Tegra TAB’ and will utilise a Tegra 4 variant chipset which has not been seen before. The tablet will come with a 7″ 1,280 x 800 IPS display and a 3200mAh or 4100mAh battery.

The manual which was included in the FCC filing does explain the device will come with a stock-looking flavor of Android Jelly Bean (more likely to be Android 4.1 or 4.2), a front facing HD camera whilst the back of the tab will come with a 5-megapixel rear camera and include a stylus as well as apps optimised for use with the stylus.

There is no date confirmed for a launch, nor any details from NVIDIA themselves if the Tegra TAB will either be sold as an NVIDIA product or through an OEMs or at retail. Only time will tell if the Tegra TAB can be as successful as the Nexus 7 2013 has been for Asus and Google.

What do you think of the NVIDIA Tegra TAB coming with a Stylus. Could a Tegra TAB be successful?

Hardware seems good. But why an outdated version of android?

What’s worse is that the important and useful facilities are ‘Premium model only’. Stylus, full size SDcard slot, rear camera, and HDMI, are all ‘Premium model only’.
